Czech Bouldering Championship Winners – Gripstone Athletes and Tokyo Powder Chalk in Action
Czech Bouldering Championships – Jungle Prague
The season is coming to an end, and last weekend marked its grand finale – the Czech Bouldering Championships in Prague. Three of our main sponsored athletes took part and made a strong impression, establishing themselves as the next generation of climbers to watch.
With Lukáš Mokroluský and Darius Naimji taking 1st and 3rd place in the men’s category, and Sára Šimeková finishing 2nd in the women’s, we couldn’t be prouder. Here’s what our three incredible athletes had to say about their performances:
Lukáš Mokroluský
This competition marked the end of my season — and also its highlight. I managed to win my third consecutive Czech National Bouldering Championship title, which brings me immense joy and a real sense of satisfaction for all the effort I’ve put in throughout the year.
I advanced from the qualification round with five flashes and six zones. Although I couldn’t complete one particularly hard boulder and went into the semifinals in fourth place, I knew I still had enough energy and focus to show what I was capable of.
In the semifinals, I felt great — my climbing was clean, confident, and controlled. I managed to top all four boulders, and as the only climber to do so, I qualified for the final in first place.
The final was intense right up to the very last moment. In the final second, I topped the last boulder, securing the victory with four tops. I honestly couldn’t have imagined a better way to close the season.
Throughout the whole competition, I used Tokyo Powder RX chalk and React spray, both from Tokyo Powder. Huge thanks also go to Gripstone for their support and for always making sure I have enough top-quality chalk — a small detail that makes a big difference on competition day.
Sára Šimeková
It was such a fun competition weekend. I managed to finish second in the adult finals, and the win was actually really close – just 0.2 points away. I was glad that the route setting this time didn’t give too much of an advantage to taller climbers, even though there were still a few cases where it came into play in semis and finals.
Overall, I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made and how I managed to show it at the Czech Championships. It’s definitely a rewarding feeling. A big thank you to my coach and everyone who helped me throughout the weekend and leading up to it, and of course to Gripstone for providing me with everything I might need!
Darius Naimji
I’m really happy with how the competition went, but even more so with the progress I’ve been making. Both in training and in competitions, I can feel clear improvements, and that showed throughout the Czech Championships. After qualifications, I went into semifinals in first place after topping all the boulders, which felt amazing. The semis didn’t go quite as smoothly as the qualis, but finishing third and securing a solid place in the finals was something I was happy with. I was just a bit annoyed not to top the slab and coordination boulders – still some work to do!
The finals were quite tiring, but again, I could really see how my training is paying off. The first coordination boulder went down a bit later than I’d hoped, but I was pleased to top it, and flashing the tricky slab was the perfect finish. I’m thrilled to have placed third. A massive thank you goes to my coach, my friends and family, and of course Gripstone, who have supported me over the past months with the best gear I could ask for. Having the right chalk, tape, and confidence in my equipment makes all the difference during competitions and training, so thank you, Gripstone!
