Summer Tour: 3,300 km, 5 Countries, 4 Competitions and Valuable Lessons
Over the past 1.5 months, I’ve driven more than 3,300 kilometers, visited five countries – Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, and the Czech Republic – and competed in four climbing competitions, including my second ever IFSC World Cup. As summer reaches its second half, I’m reflecting on an intense journey full of challenges, growth, and unforgettable moments.
Climbing World Cup & The Reality of Performance
Each event was an opportunity to show what I’ve been working toward. Unfortunately, I couldn’t deliver the kind of performance I know I’m capable of. While disappointing, I know that moments like these are part of the long-term process in both physical and mental development. These tests shape us into better athletes – and stronger people.
Traveling, Stress & Unexpected Obstacles
Not everything went according to plan. Traveling constantly, coping with fatigue, dealing with pre-comp nerves – these brought difficult days that required patience and determination. But in those moments, it’s essential to remember why we do this and where we’re heading.
Despite the setbacks, this tour was filled with amazing places, inspiring people, and powerful lessons.
Back in Prague: Training with the Best
I finished my tour with a short stop in Prague, where I joined a training camp organized by the Czech Independent Climbing Association (LANO). We had the chance to climb on elite-level competition routes set by some of the best – Jan Zbranek and Martin Jech.
Skin Gone, Tape On – Gripstone to the Rescue
As expected after a few intense climbing days, I had no skin left on my fingers. My only option was to tape up and keep going. Luckily, the tapes from Gripstone and Crux made it possible to push through – they allowed me to hold onto grips I otherwise wouldn’t have managed.
🧷 If you’re struggling with torn skin after sessions too, check out the tapes I use – available now on Gripstone.eu. They really make a difference when it matters most.
What’s Next?
Now it's time to shift into training mode again, preparing for the peak of the season. I trust that the experiences I’ve gained this summer will fuel my next performance – and with the right mindset and equipment, I’m excited to take on what’s next.
