Bouldering in Bor, Czech Republic

After several years, I returned to the Bor climbing area near Teplice nad Metují for a weekend of bouldering. The boulders here are hidden deep in the forest on a steep slope, and just reaching them is already quite demanding and exhausting.

We started in the Monstrum sector, home to one of the most beautiful boulders in the Czech Republic – Zlatý Drak 8A+/B. I wanted to climb it flash, but only succeeded on the fourth attempt, after figuring out the correct way to launch into the long, dynamic move from a different position.

On the second day, we moved to the Barandov sector, where I tried a flash attempt on Puroresu 8A. Unfortunately, I fell on the final move when my foot slipped, and there was no time left for another try. I had to leave it without a flash and without a send.

However, I managed to send Dr. House 8A, a boulder that follows a tricky, slopy arête and challenged me a lot. For better friction, I relied on Tokyo Powder RX chalk, which helped me finish the climb on my third attempt.

The Bor bouldering area is a hidden gem of Czech climbing, offering both physical and mental challenges in a beautiful forest setting.
